Shortie the Corgi from London

22 July 2014 ~ 2 Comments

Meet Ivy’s pretty Corgi, Shortie! She’s about 4-5 years old (her parents don’t know exactly, since she was adopted from a L.A. shelter 3 years ago). Shortie came from a breeder who refused to sell her dogs, but continued breeding them, which turned into animal hoarding. The city ended up taking most of the dogs away and dispersed them throughout local shelters.

Shortie was 1 of the 16 Corgis at the shelter Ivy went to look for a pet. She had pups before and has scars on her face and ears from fights. She also has a cut on her tongue – probably got caught while licking the cage, and she has a half docked tail, about 4 inches long. When Ivy first brought her home Shortie was only 19 pounds. She’s now a very happy puppy who loves to play, eat and boss other dogs around.

She also moved from the US to London with her parents, and is enjoying all the parks London has to offer. Shortie is one of the few Corgis that have a docked tail in England, since they restricted tail docking in 2006. The rule also made the breed less desirable, so it’s not often Shortie and her parents see a Corgi there.

Welcome to CorgiDogs, Shortie!
