Cappy the Corgi Got a Sister!

15 July 2014 ~ 1 Comment

“This is Bryan & Rose in Auburn, WA. Most here know we have a 12-year old Corgi already. His name is Cappy. He’s such a laid back, care-about-nothing kind of boy, except for his food and a place to sleep. That’s his life.

Well, on June 3rd, 2014 Bella came to be part of our family. Cappy’s new younger sisfur is 6-1/2 years old, purebred red & white Pembroke, more red, a lot less white than Cappy. She has never had pups and was spayed at 7 months old. We found her on our local Craigslist ad that was posted on a Corgi group on Facebook. Owner was surrendering her because she was moving into an apartment that did not allow dogs. Personally, I would have found another place to live, but that’s just me.

We drove an hour down from our house to meet Bella. We took Cappy with us to a neutral meeting place to see how the two would get along. We knew Cappy would be OK, he grew up with other big dogs and a couple of cats. When they met, they touched noses, sniffed butts, and have been best friends ever since. They even slept together in the back seat of the car on the way home.

Bella is a little bundle of energy, always go-go-go, a complete opposite of Cappy. She devours her food faster than anyone I have seen, and then belches like a sailor afterwards – she has no manners. 🙂 We had one little spat between the 2 dogs, a few days after getting her, over food, but that was it.

She loves walks and car rides! Each dog now has their own window to stick their head out. We went to the lake the other day, turns out Bella is part fish also. She runs right in and starts swimming. She saw a duck off shore – good thing I had a leash on her, or she would have gone across the lake after her feathered friend. It takes a lot of coaxing to get her out of the water.

Bella’s special whiskers: they’re black on her left side, and white on her right side

She’s also a Daddy’s girl, always at my side. She’s opening up more, talking to us if we are not paying attention to her. We get the little “ruff-ruff” voices when she wants to say something. Cappy is not a lap dog, but Bella sure is! If my lap is empty, she’s right up in it laying down. Always has to be touched or touching you when she’s next to us, even in bed. She’s a good girl, and we were so lucky to find her!”

Welcome to CorgiDogs, Bella!
